Finance Fairy Photo of Finance Fairy Elli

Elli doesn’t really like to talk about herself, so we’ll do it for her! As the one holding the purse strings at Alternative Athens, “Miss Elli” is both feared and loved by all of us. Her desk is her castle where no one is allowed to touch anything! There, she has secret magic boxes where she hides spare tour tickets and obscure invoices. No one would have ever imagined that working with a Finance Officer would be that fun! But above all else, what makes Elli a great Alternative Athenian and special to the whole team is that she has proved to be the biggest moral support in hard times and a great friend!

In 2010, the Greek crisis hit and the country went into freefall. I was left without a job, a car or even medical insurance, and there was little perspective of finding a new job any time soon.

I remember when I was about 17, my friend asked me what my plans for life were. Sincerely, I had no clue. I had some scattered images in my head of how I imagine myself. Like photographs.

Testimonials

"We had a great 2 hours with our tour guide, Tonia. She was very informative about the Olympic History in Greece and put us through our paces in the javelin throw, discus, long jump and shot put. We then made our way to the Olympic Stadium where we learned more about it's history and was able to run a lap. Highly recommend this tour for an out of the ordinary experience."

"Loved it! If you want to see the not-so-usual site of Athens, this tour is totally worth it! It's amazing how much impressive street art there is. And as street art usually can be found in the less touristic, more alternative neighbourhoods of a city, this is your chance to get to know them. Our guide Nikos was super knowledgable and very friendly. Highly recommended!"

"This tour is not only about the food, it also highlights the history and culture of the Athenians, it’s a great way to enjoy Athens and to learn about the country.  We had a lovely time, couldn't have found these locations even through a map without getting lost. Tania was very helpful as our guide and we are thankful."
