What you can expect

The Acropolis Museum is one of the world's most important museums, filled with a vast collection of beautiful objects from thousands of years ago, world-famous for its stunning Parthenon Marbles and for the unique way in which it displays them.

On this tour, you'll discover that it's also home to two Athenians from the Golden Age of Athens, whose everyday lives you'll explore as you move through the exhibits. Their personal stories are hidden in the things they left behind, the artifacts that we encounter at the museum today. Through a series of fun hands-on games and activities led by our expert guide, you will discover how life in ancient Athens really used to be and see the similarities - if any - with life nowadays.

As you put the pieces together and take part in the activities, you'll learn about Ancient Greek history and culture. When you've finished this museum adventure, you'll know what made this ancient city so special, and you'll understand, too, the modern relevance of its crowning glory, the Acropolis.

Testimonials

"Lena and Kristos were fantastic. They fed us lots of food and drinks. The best part, however, was the discussions we had with them. Whenever I travel, I always try to schedule a meal with a local family, or a cooking lesson, and I've never been disappointed. You'll learn so much about the culture! We spent almost four hours in their home and left with a new understanding of the Greek psyche."

"Amazing day trip to Delphi! The tour goes beyond the usual sightseeing. We spent a great day with Andreas as our guide, he was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful before and after the journey! We highly recommend him and alternative athens!"

Babacar, TripAdvisor

"Nikos, our guide, was excellent at explaining the various art displays he took us to, and getting us to appreciate the difference between street art and graffiti. We walked through marginal areas, as well as upcoming areas. Our perception of street art changed with this tour!"
